Frequently Asked Questions

What is the $1000 a month rule for retirement planning?

The $1,000 a month rule is a simple retirement income estimate suggesting that every $240,000 in savings may support about $1,000 per month, based on a 5% annual withdrawal assumption. It is only a rough guideline. Actual retirement income planning should account for taxes, inflation, investment risk, Social Security, healthcare costs, and your expected withdrawal timeline.
