Frequently Asked Questions

What is the $1000 a month rule for retirement?

The $1,000 a month rule is a rough retirement planning shortcut suggesting you may need about $240,000 in savings for every $1,000 of monthly retirement income, assuming a 5% annual withdrawal rate. It is not a personalized plan. Taxes, inflation, market risk, Social Security, pensions, healthcare costs, and longevity all affect how much income your assets can realistically support.
