JB L’Esperance, Principal

A founding member of The L’Esperance Group, LLC, J.B. is a consultant and advisor in the areas of investment management, retirement analysis, estate planning and small business planning. He is a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and holds licenses in life insurance, health and accident in Michigan and Minnesota.

J.B. started his practice in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, right out of college, and continues to provide counsel to many of his first clients. His priority is to provide excellent service and value to every client he serves.

The oldest of six siblings, J.B. learned to appreciate teamwork, relationship building and the importance of family values early on. As an athlete, he also gained a competitive work ethic. Today, J.B. enjoys hockey, golf and hunting, as well as spending time with his children. He and his wife, Kelly, live in Independence, Minnesota, and are building a practice that will eventually include satellite locations throughout the Midwest.

Kelly L’Esperance, Principal

Kelly C. L’Esperance is a founding member of
 The L’Esperance Group, LLC. Her experience includes five years in investment services at one of the country’s largest commercial banks, plus retirement and education planning, fixed income investing and investment portfolio management.

Kelly grew up in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula where her family owned and operated two small resorts. Her parents were role models
 and influenced her decision to become an entrepreneur. When she started The L’Esperance Group, LLC., she made a promise to put her clients’ needs and objectives above all else.

Kelly resides in Independence, Minnesota, with her husband and business partner, J.B. L’Esperance, and their two children. Her outside activities include downhill skiing, golfing and most importantly, spending time with family and friends.

Curtis Hewitt, Advisor

Curtis is an advisor with Barking Sands Capital, specializing in Medicare Planning and Long Term Care. He has lived in Northern Michigan for most of his life and currently resides in Marquette with his wife and four children. Curtis has always had an entrepreneurial spirit and has successfully started, managed and sold many businesses throughout his career. Besides being an advisor with Barking Sands Capital, he is also co-founder of MSIS Agency. He has degrees in Architectural Design from Lansing Community College and Business Management from Colorado Technical University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.

He greatly enjoys giving back to his community and has served as the president of the local Women’s Shelter, the UP Regional Coordinator of the Child I.D. Program for Michigan Masons, as a school board member for North Star Academy and was the co-founder of an at-risk youth mountain biking program called Start The Cycle. Due to his varied past experiences and achievements, Curtis has a developed a unique skill set that allows him to assist people from all walks of life.

Curtis holds his Life/Health licenses, as well as his Series 6 and Series 63. In his spare time he enjoys spending time in the great outdoors in Michigan’s beautiful Upper Peninsula with his wife and kids.
